The dramatic-biography of Puerto Rican salsa pioneer Hector Lavoe, one of the biggest Spanish-language singers in the 1970s. The tale follows Lavoe's passionate relationship with his love Puchi, and his skyrocket to international fame. But even when he has it all, Lavoe is unable to escape the allure of drugs and his personal pain. (per movies.yahoo)The story has all the makings of a dramatic moving movie. It fell very flat. The movie was too choppy and the direction of the movie was so vague. The only thing good in the movie, I am surprised to say, is Jennifer Lopez. I think she did a great job bringing to the screen the essence of Puchi. It was hard although not to see her in the same light as a pop singer and it was really hard taking her seriously in such a dramatic role. Neverless, she did a good job or at least was the best thing in the movie. Marc Anthony looks better on screen than the pictures of him I see circulating but his acting is kind of flat and I just didn't get what kind of person Lavoe was. The movie was boring and I didn't understand Lavoe and Puchi' s relationship. 1 out of 4
